Information Top Not a 'western' motif, these accommodations are dedicated to function and utility. Both units are in close proximity to the Pruitt's home on the banks of the Little Buffalo River. Avery and Thelma Pruitt are 5th generation natives of Newton County whose ancestors settled in the area known as Pruitt Access on the Buffalo River. John D. Pruitt, a son of that original settler, later made his home along the banks of the Little Buffalo River, a contributory stream to the Buffalo River. These two rental units are located on part of the original homestead where 5 generations of Pruitts have farmed and ranched. The Buffalo River Bunkhouse and Bungalow are part of that heritage, and the Pruitts invite you to share in the tradition if you long for rural lodging that is conveniently located one mile from Jasper. The Bunkhouse and Bungalow feature clean, comfortable beds — most are plump new mattresses — made up with quality linens and topped off with handmade quilts. The towels are plush and thirsty, and the kitchens are supplied with dishes, flatware and cooking utensils. Both units are decorated with family heirlooms. Retired farm implements, passed on to us from our parents and grandparents, now provide personality and ambiance for your visit. Photographs of family ancestors evoke retrospection of simpler times, and pictures of local attractions depict the area's allure and uncommon beauty. The Bunkhouse is accessible to the handicapped; the Bungalow is semi-accessible. Both have paved driveway. The Bunkhouse, with two queen beds, two double beds and one hide-a-bed, sleeps up to 10 adults, and the bunkhouse is air conditioned. This large room houses 4 beds in a 'dormitory' arrangement, and includes a kitchenette with full-size range, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, crock pot and toaster. The remaining bed and bathroom with shower occupies an adjoining room. Other niceties are a 27" TV with satellite, upholstered chairs and couches. Enter the Bunkhouse by walking through a 40' X 20' covered patio area equipped with gas grill, picnic tables and lounge chairs. This covered verandah overlooks the Little Buffalo River and provides a comfortable place to grill, picnic and lounge while protected from the elements of weather. Bungalow is air conditioned, and is provided with two queen beds with satellite TV and upholstered chairs in a room overlooking a pastoral scene. A double bed furnishes a second bed room. The kitchen is complete with a full-size range, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and toaster. The bathroom features a shower-in-tub. Wicker furniture on the front porch is provided for your comfort and a grill is available. Games available are, Lawn Croquet, and Horseshoes. Pack some clothes and head for the hills.
